Iris - Todorov narrative theory

Todorov narrative theory

Equilibrium - Sad, desolate environment of 2 young girls - Jen and Iris. Hang with a group of young thugs, although the bond between the two is strongest in the group.

Disruption - Girls at party, Iris does not feel well at party. When girls return home Iris faints. Goes hospital and finds out she has cancer. Jen finds out

Complication -  Iris in hospital going through the worst time in her life and left Jen to fend for herself for the first time.  Jen is emotionally and mentally effected by this - now is alone. But eventually she decides to change because she knows Iris is suffering and will be a different person at the end therefore she wants to change for her. So if Iris comes back, Jen wants her to live a better life with her so she starts now.

Climax - Jen changes for Iris, she leaves group, changes style, attends school, learns from mistakes. She knows Iris may or may not die but she's doing this for the both of them. Doctor says Iris is getting much better. Jen thinks she will live.

Restoration - Iris doesn't survive in the end. Sad, desolate environment is seen again except with just Jen alone but she's a different person. However she hasn't got her best friend and knows sheis doesn't survive in the end.
